. We LOVE the outdoors, and have been organizing group hikes throughout California.
In 1998, I obtained a Masters of Social Work degree from Boston University. My goal at the time was to improving the quality of life for all my clients I worked with the elderly, homeless, foster youth, families seeking to adopt and individuals with developmental disabilities. My passion was working/volunteering for children and affected and infected by HIV/AIDS.
While struggling with weight throughout my life, I became interested in fitness and living a healthier lifestyle. I began focusing on eating healthy, hiking, taking fitness classes, and even hired a personal trainer. Seeing and feeling the results of a more active lifestyle, I developed a passion for fitness, and began teaching group fitness classes in 2005.
As my classes soon grow, I starting education programs and began to collect certifications in different areas of fitness. My groups now include strength training/Bootcamps, Zumba, Kinesis, p90x and Yoga. I became certified as a personal trainer in 2009, and soon after decided to take the leap into fitness as a full time career.
I enjoy continuing to change the lives of people every day. Being a personal trainer is more about re-training the mind than training the body. The body responds to fitness conditioning on a biological level. Whereas the mind needs to be re-trained to develop healthy habits that are easily sustainable throughout life. My job is to help people have realistic expectations and set achievable objectives to attain a permanent, healthy lifestyle. Fitness and health are the tools I use to re-train the mind and train the body.
